Living Well Updates

October was a busy month in Living Well! We learned about our school’s October character trait which was courtesy. We kicked off our Rachel’s Challenge Kindness and Compassion program which we also tied into our lessons for Unity Day. Unity Day was on Wednesday October 19th. We wore orange and stood united together for kindness and acceptance.

I would like to congratulate the students who performed at the Oakland Heritage Day Festival. The theme of the performance was Citizenship and the students did a great job!

This past week we learned more about global citizenship during our Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF lesson. If your child is participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF please have them turn in their UNICEF donation boxes to their teacher during the week after Halloween.

This week (October 31st- November 4th) we will be talking about healthy vs. unhealthy choices for our Red Ribbon Week lessons. Please have your child wear their red uniform shirt on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

The school character trait for the month of November is Thankfulness. We will be talking about the importance of having an attitude of gratitude in Living Well.

Happy New Year!

December was a very busy month learning about all the winter holidays and the school character trait generosity.  Our  January character trait is Reliability.  We will  be starting our Fit Panther adventure traveling from the Florida Keys to Tallahassee. We will also continue with our kindness and compassion lessons and on January 23rd our 3rd-5th grade students will watch a Kindness Adventure performance.
