Dear Families,

Welcome to Oakland Avenue Charter School community! Whether you are a new student or returning eaglet, I am excited to see all the progress and growth you make this year in kindergarten!

A little bit about myself. My name is Natalie Wessling, and I am native to Florida, born in Tampa. Before coming to Oakland Avenue Charter School, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of West Florida. I originally wanted to be a child psychologist, but after working within a childcare setting, I realized I had a passion for teaching. So, I decided to pursue a career working alongside children. I returned to school and received my Masters in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. In my spare time, I love cooking for my family, reading a good book, and visiting the theme parks with my son.

My philosophy as a teacher is that each student is unique with their individual life experiences, learning styles, and challenges. Therefore, my goal as a teacher is to foster a love of learning by providing differentiated, exploratory, and inquiry-based learning activities to engage my diverse learners.

I look forward to partnering with you this year, and nurturing your student to be a lifelong learner.
