Mike Parker, Public Works Director

Mike Parker has worked for the Town of Oakland since 2012.  Mike brings more than 30 years’ service in Public Works, Public Utilities, and Public Facilities management to the Town of Oakland team.  He is knowledgeable and skilled in all aspects of Public Works programs to include water, sewer, stormwater utilities operation and maintenance, lake and waterway management, street and right-of-way maintenance, arbor care, fleet management, and publicly-owned facilities construction, operation and maintenance.  His background also includes permitting, construction inspection and management, municipal services planning, and long-range budget development.  He is experienced in the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures for efficient use of available resources; and effective administration of Federal, State, and locally funded initiatives.  

Scott Townsend, Public Works Supervisor

A native Vermonter of 51 years, Scott and his family traded in negative-digit winters for central Florida's sun in 2014.  For over 25 years, Scott has worked in supervisory roles within the Public Works industry.  As a superintendent, he oversaw all aspects of waterworks as a licensed water plant operator - including water filtration - and all aspects of wastewater utility.  He's maintained and overseen road projects and maintenance, on-workings of Parks Department, and worked closely with Permitting Departments.  From the private sector, he brings knowledge from his commercial and residential water well operations, as well as commercial construction experience.  In 2015, Scott became certified as a Stormwater Management Inspector from Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
