My name is Tara Agnesini, and I am a third grade teacher at Oakland Avenue Charter School. I was born and raised in New York City and moved to Orlando, Florida in 2019. I received a Bachelor of Art in Communications from Adelphi University and a Master of Science in Childhood Education and Special Education from Long Island University. I am professionally certified in both Elementary Education K-6 and Exceptional Student Education K-12 (ESE).
My philosophy for teaching is that all children should be given the tools to meet the rigors of today’s standards. While the bar should be set high, educators should differentiate instruction so all students can reach, but not necessarily take the same path. It is important to promote a desire for students seeking effective learning opportunities through collaboration, inclusion, differentiation, and through meaningful lessons and engaging activities. My goal is to provide students with a challenging curriculum, and to inspire them to be unique individuals, critical thinkers, and outstanding role models in a safe and nurturing environment.
I also believe that both parents and teachers play a pivotal role in education, and that effective and positive communication helps improve a child’s academic performance. Children will receive the best education possible when both parent and teacher partner as an invested team in their success.
When I am not teaching at OACS, I enjoy traveling with my husband and family, visiting Walt Disney World, cooking, playing video games, and relaxing at home with my cat, Kingsley.
