Burglary Suspect Apprehended In Johns Landing

In the late evening hours of 1/25/19, Sergeant Tony Vitale, his K9 partner Chase and Officer Rajiv Lal were dispatched to Regina Circle in John’s Landing in reference to a burglary to a vehicle which had just occurred.  Upon their arrival they began to search for the 6’3 foot suspect who was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.  Officer Lal spotted a person meeting that description inside of a car on Cura Court.  When the subject saw Officer Lal, he exited the car and fled.

 

Sergeant Vitale and Chase joined in the foot pursuit and eventually caught up with the suspect between two houses on Strihal Loop. The suspect tried to run past Sergeant Vitale, who took him to the ground.  With the help of Chase and Officer Lal, he was able to subdue and secure the suspect.  A follow up investigation ensued and it was determined that several cars had been broken in to.  The suspect had several stolen items in his possession at the time of his arrest.   A number of charges were placed on the suspect, including three counts of burglary and resisting arrest.

 

While this incident was successfully concluded, it should serve as reminder to keep your vehicles locked, even when they are in your own driveway.
