Mayor Shane Taylor

Shane Taylor

Shane Taylor is honored to serve as the 35th Mayor of the Town of Oakland, Florida. A lifelong resident with deep family roots in the community, his passion for preserving Oakland’s beauty, character, and charm drives his leadership and service.

Shane’s connection to Oakland dates back to the 1930s when his great-grandfather moved to the area as a truck farmer. His family has remained closely tied to the town for generations. Born in Winter Garden at the former Winter Garden Memorial Hospital, Shane graduated from West Orange High School before earning a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Geography from the University of South Florida.

Following his education, Shane returned to West Orange County and established a successful career in construction and development. He is a general contractor, partner, and owner of Brookline Development and Associates, a construction development firm and site construction company.

In 1998, Shane and his wife, Kelly, built their first home in Oakland, where they were among approximately 900 residents at the time. As their family grew with the addition of their three daughters—Samantha, Hannah, and Kate—they remained committed to the community, building their second home to raise their family.

With over 25 years of service to Oakland, Shane has been actively involved in numerous boards and committees, including the Planning and Zoning Board, the selection process for the town’s police chief, and collaborative design sessions for the redesign of Oakland’s town center. He has also dedicated his time to various volunteer efforts that support the town’s growth and well-being.

As Mayor, Shane is committed to maintaining Oakland’s small-town charm while guiding its future development. He welcomes engagement from residents and values the opportunity to serve the community he has long called home.
