Commissioner Kris Keller was appointed to the Town of Oakland Commission in January 2025. Prior to joining the Town Commission, Kris served as an alternate on the Planning and Zoning Board, gaining valuable insight into the town’s growth and development.
Kris was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and spent her early years in California before moving back to Nebraska for a few years. Just before high school, she relocated with her family to Central Florida, settling on the east side of Orlando. Kris attended and graduated from Winter Park High School.
She began her college education at Valencia Community College before launching her career. In 2009, she returned to complete her degree, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Phoenix.
Kris has worked in the commercial interiors industry for 35 years, with nearly 30 of those focused on commercial flooring. Throughout her career, she has held various roles, including business development and national account sales, working for local flooring contractors, national industry organizations and manufacturers. She has also been actively involved in her professional community, serving in board and committee positions.
Beyond her professional and civic involvement, Kris has a passion for traveling the world. She has visited more than 20 countries and looks forward to exploring more in the future.
In 2019, Kris moved to Oakland, Florida, drawn to its small-town charm enjoying town events and riding her bike on the West Orange Trail. Kris is honored to have been appointed to the commission and looks forward to serving the residents of Oakland.
